CHRISTIAN

St. Mary's is a value-oriented institution and, as such, places high priority on the teaching of Christian Moral principles. Character development and inner Self-discipline are as important as whatever Academic training takes place within the school. Accordingly, CRE(Christ.Relig.Ed) is a compulsory KCSE subject for all students; School Rules are consistently & fairly applied; Students are accountable for specific achievement levels in both academic work & the daily after-school maintenance program.

CATHOLIC

While respecting the inter-denominational composition of the students attending the school and refraining from odious “proselytizing”, the school none-the-less supports and nourishes students in the practice of their Catholic Faith by the availability of Prayer, Sacrament & Leadership Programs. Non-Catholics are offered alternative services(e.g. local town Sunday Services)

LASALLIAN

In the tradition of St.John Baptist de LaSalle, founder of the Congregation of the Christian Brothers in 1681, the principal focus of the school is the Student and his religious, social, academic & character development. All aspects of the school(Administration, Teachers, Curriculum, Schedules, etc) are directed and accountable to that focus and it is for that very reason that the school exists. By vocation, the Brothers choose to operate schools principally for the poor and marginalized of an area, offering an education that is “practicable” for those entrusted to their care. Since the Brothers are but a small fraction of the school’s teachers, they seek to give a sense of “Shared Mission” and corporate ownership of the school to all Staff and Students

Teaching is a Vocation; not just a job. Thus, Teacher availability to their students & personal moral character are High priorities in hiring for St.Mary’s. In addition to providing a well-managed, disciplined environment suitable for learning, St.Mary’s unique program of Daily after-school work of maintaining the School Farm & Compound enables students to assist their parents in the Fees payment in addition to learning skills of responsible leadership. Finally, the additional resident Street Child Program on campus serving over 150 enhances student sensitivity for the poor.
