St Mary's Child Rescue Centre
|
St.Mary’s feeds, boards & pays basic Primary School needs (Mattress & Bed sheets, Uniform, Shoes & other clothes/Stationary & Books/etc) for over 130 of the very poor children of Nyeri town & its environs. These young boys are “rescued” from the streets & live “side-by-side” with the older Secondary School students who provide an “older brother” influence within a disciplined, caring community. The Secondary Students come normally from the surrounding villages and hence are sensitive to the normal family struggles to make ends meet. As such, they are highly motivated students and hence provide good “modeling” for the younger children of this Program. |

St Mary's is focused on uprising the lives of the "Juniors". This is why it is commited to ensuring that the boys go to school. More to that, it is supports them far even after completing their primary school course. |

These young children are “rescued” from the streets and live “side-by-side” with older secondary school students who provide an “older- brother” influence within a disciplined and caring community. The young boys eat, sleep and study in their new “home” with four recently- graduated St Mary’s students who, offer not only a good model for them to follow but also give them important “peer counseling”. |

The younger ones normally have time in the evenings to share stories and other experiences. |
